Joseph "Jay" Potter of Dayville, Connecticut, is the 2020 recipient of the American Eagle Financial Credit Union Scholarship at Goodwin University.
Jay will graduate from Goodwin University in June with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration. His journey began from his desire to rise out of poverty and find a career where he could support himself financially. Jay chose Goodwin because they offered night and online classes that would allow him to attend school while working full time in the field of regulatory compliance.
"This scholarship from American Eagle is helping me finish my business degree and continue on with my education. It has given me the ability to worry less about affording books and tuition and more about learning," said Potter. Jay's best memories and experiences during his time at Goodwin University are the relationships he established with the professors and his own personal growth. "Education is the gateway to inpiration, innovation, and success," added Potter. He plans to continue on to graduate school while developing his career in business management.
“The American Eagle Financial Credit Union scholarship at Goodwin University is our way of investing in the next generation of talent,” said Dean Marchessault, President and Chief Executive Officer at American Eagle Financial Credit Union. “We are very impressed by Jay's work at Goodwin University and I am honored to present him as our 2020 business scholarship winner,” added Marchessault.
American Eagle Financial Credit Union awards an annual scholarship to a Goodwin University student enrolled in their Business Administration Program, who has completed at least 12 credits, maintained a minimum GPA of 3.0, and demonstrated a financial need.
