American Eagle Financial Credit Union celebrated the one-year anniversary of its full-service branch at 84 Washington Avenue in North Haven. To acknowledge the anniversary and our supporting role in the community, the Credit Union made donations of $1,000 each to Community Action Agency of New Haven and New Opportunities Inc.

Community Action Agency of New Haven works to create a pathway to prosperity to those in poverty in the Greater New Haven area through service, collaboration, advocacy and education. The agency provides case management services including energy and weatherization assistance, emergency services, and mature adult services to low income families.

"Because we operate under very specific income eligibility guidelines, we sometimes see families fall through the cracks and are unable to help them. This $1,000 donation from American Eagle will help us purchase home heating oil for North Haven families in need,” said Amos L. Smith, President & CEO, Community Action Agency of New Haven. "Thank you again for acknowledging CAANH with such a generous donation."

New Opportunities, Inc. works to improve the quality of life for economically disadvantaged individuals by providing the necessary resources to increase their standard of living. The agency offers a variety of social service programs designed to eliminate poverty and assist people in Waterbury, Meriden, and 27 towns around Greater New Haven.

"We have seen an ever increasing need in the areas of food security and housing assistance to families impacted by the pandemic. Through the generosity of American Eagle Financial Credit Union, our agency is able to get resources to the most vulnerable in our area," said William Rybczyk, Director of Research Development and Planning at New Oportunities, Inc. "American Eagle's donation will support food security needs for vulnerable families in North Haven."
