American Eagle FCU Partners with United Way Year of Caring Project

On Friday, September 30th, American Eagle Financial Credit Union employees volunteered their time to lend a helping hand sprucing up the Mosaic Group Home in Bloomfield, CT. Annually, AEFCU partners with the United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut for their “Year of Caring Project.” This is a one-time project, where volunteers share their time and talents at a location in the local community of which their company serves.
Mosaic is an organization in Connecticut that provides high-quality, individualized services to adults with intellectual disabilities. Through their work, Mosaic provides services in 20 communities in Connecticut, where people with disabilities live in a variety of residential arrangements suited to their specific needs and abilities. AEFCU volunteers worked on specific tasks at the group home, such as mulching, planting mums, weeding, and trimming brush to clean up the front of the house. In addition, two rooms in the interior of the house were painted for the residents who live there.

Employees Volunteer in Financial Reality Fair at CCSU

American Eagle FCU employees volunteered in the Connecticut Credit Union’s Financial Reality Fair on Tuesday, March 29, at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain. Over 600 high school students participated in this event.

Students identify their career choice and starting salaries, are provided a budget sheet requiring them to live within their monthly salary while paying for basics such as housing, utilities, transportation, clothing, and food. Of course, there are many temptations for additional spending, and students must learn to balance their wants and needs to live on their own.

Volunteer Financial Counselors talk with each student about the importance of planning for future needs and preparing for future financial challenges.

Help Choose a Charity Campaign

The non-profit organizations were pre-selected to participate in the "Help Choose a Charity Campaign." The organizations were chosen based on their locality and AEFCU's three areas of charitable focus: education and youth, basic human needs, and community development. Winners were awarded a monetary grant based on the total number of votes received in an online poll among AEFCU members and non-members.

Read Across America Day

Four American Eagle Financial Credit Union employees, in partnership with United Way and Hartford Public Schools, participated in the National Education Association's (NEA) Read Across America Day on Wednesday, March 2, 2016. Nearly 100 total volunteers celebrated the day by reading Dr. Seuss' "If I Ran the Zoo" to kindergarten children throughout the Hartford elementary schools.

To Support and enhance the communities we serve

American Eagle Financial Credit Union is committed to improving the quality of life for the residents we serve in Hartford, Middlesex, New Haven and Tolland counties. We will dedicate money, in-kind support, and volunteer resources that enhance and support these communities by targeting contributions and volunteer resources to organizations, programs, and causes in three general categories:

  • Education and Youth (emphasis on literacy and personal finance)
  • Basic Human Needs (emphasis on food, clothing, and shelter)
  • Community Development

American Eagle FINANCIAL Credit Union Fund

American Eagle Financial Credit Union has established a Donor-Advised Fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving to foster the Credit Union’s renewed support for charitable giving and community outreach.

The fund serves as American Eagle Financial Credit Union’s primary source of charitable giving and provides opportunities for the Credit Union, its members, and strategic partners to give back to the community in the form of financial support to charities in the Greater Hartford area. Recipients of grants from the American Eagle Financial Credit Union Fund will generally fall into one of the three key areas described above.

The American Eagle Financial Credit Union Fund enables the Credit Union to be actively involved with charitable giving, while maximizing the expertise and experience of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. This partnership positions the Credit Union to fulfill its ongoing commitment to community outreach and development.

The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving is the community foundation for the 29-town Greater Hartford region, dedicated to improving the quality of life for area residents since 1925. It is one of the largest community foundations in the United States. For more information call 860.548.1888.
