How We Protect and Use Information
American Eagle Federal Credit Union is committed to providing you with competitive products and services to meet your financial needs and help you reach your goals. We are equally committed to protecting your privacy. Under federal law, we are required to give you this notice of our privacy policy and practices concerning the personal, and sometimes nonpublic, information we collect and disclose. It also includes information about the parties who receive personal and sometimes nonpublic information from us as we conduct the business of the Credit Union. Please read this notice to learn more about our policies and practices. Our policy applies to both American Eagle Federal Credit Union and its affiliate, American Eagle Financial Services, (collectively referred to herein as "we," "us," "our," and/or "American Eagle"), and therefore this notice will be applied to both. You need not take any action at this time.

To Whom Our Policies Apply
The policies and practices described in this notice apply to members and individuals who inquire about and/or obtain products or services from American Eagle for personal, family, or household purposes.

Collecting Information
We collect and use various types of information to accurately identify you, service your records and accounts, save you time and money, better understand your needs, help us design or improve our products and services, and to comply with certain laws and regulations. We want to help you learn more about the products and services that may be of interest to you.

The information we collect is categorized as the following five types, all of which are sometimes collectively referred to herein as "Collected Information":

  1. Information you provide us on applications and through other means, such as your assets, income, and debt.
  2. Information about your transactions and account experience with us, our affiliates, or others including your account balance, payment history, parties to transactions, credit card usage, or information about our communication with you, such as a request for a copy of a check and our response, or a pre-approved credit card offer.
  3. Information from a consumer report, such as information regarding your creditworthiness or credit history.
  4. Information from other outside sources regarding their employment, credit, or other relationship with you or verifying representations made by you, such as your employment history, loan, or credit card balances.
  5. Other general information we obtain about you that is not assembled for the purpose of determining your eligibility for credit, employment, or other product or service you request, such as demographic information.

Sharing Information
By sharing Collected Information, we are better able to bring you greater convenience and more choices. We limit who receives Collected Information and what type of information is shared.

Service Providers Who Act for Us
We may share all 5 types of Collected Information with:

  • Financial service providers, such as insurance companies, mortgage service companies, and securities broker-dealers, and
  • Non-financial companies, such as consumer reporting agencies, data processors, check printers, statement publishers, card processors, non-profit organizations, and government agencies, who perform services for us or function on our behalf. These companies might, for example, assist us to process your transactions, mail your statements, or provide you with products and services that you have requested or service products and services you already have with us.
Pursuant to a Marketing or Joint Agreement
In addition, we may share any of the five types of Collected Information with companies which market products or services that we offer, either alone or jointly with another financial institution, and with financial institutions with which we have joint marketing agreements. These companies act on our behalf, are contractually obligated to keep the information that we provide to them confidential, and use the information only to provide the services we’ve asked them to perform for you and us.

Otherwise As Permitted or Required By Law
We may also disclose any of the five types of Collected Information as necessary to effect, administer, or enforce a transaction that you request or authorize, to consumer reporting agencies, and otherwise as permitted or required by law.

With Your Consent
We may also share any of the five types of Collected Information outside of the Credit Union and its affiliates if we have your consent, such as when you have a credit card and it is associated with a purchase program.

Former Members
If you discontinue your relationship with American Eagle, we will continue to comply with this policy (or, if different, our policy in effect at the time of such discontinuance) and protect the nonpublic information we have collected from or about you in accordance with its terms.

Protecting Information About You From Outside Marketers
American Eagle does not sell or otherwise share any Collected Information with marketers outside the Credit Union and its affiliates, except as permitted by law.

Maintaining the Security of Your Information
We value your trust and handle the information about you with care. We restrict access to Collected Information to those employees who need to know the information to provide products or services to you. In addition, we maintain strict physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect your personal information. Our employees are bound by our policy requiring confidential treatment of Collected Information and are subject to disciplinary action if they fail to follow our policy.
