Member Benefits
  • You may pay anyone…from your regular merchants/payees (mortgage holder, car loan holder, utility company, merchants, phone company, etc.) to perhaps those more occasional payees (such as retail charge accounts, auto body shop, fuel oil delivery service, etc.).
  • You determine who gets paid, when they’re to be paid, and how much they’re to be paid.
  • You may make changes in your bill-paying schedule at any time.
  • You have complete control and flexibility with your bill-paying service.
  • You have total security, privacy, and confidentiality through secure PIN access.
  • This automated feature provides a low-cost way to manage a cumbersome chore; it makes bill-paying hassle-free.
  • You may also find that you avoid the late fees or finance charges sometimes accrued by busy people who have simply forgotten to make their payments... or don't have the time to keep track of when their payments are due... or don't get to the post office for stamps.

Frequently Asked Bill Pay Questions

How do I get started?
The first thing you'll need to do is organize all of the information about any individual, family member, friend, business, merchant or professional who generates an invoice for products or services that you want to pay with the service. Gather together the names, billing addresses, your account number with the payee and the payee's phone number. Next, login to 24-Hour Online Banking, click the Bill Pay button, and follow the online screen prompts.

Is there anyone I cannot pay?
You may not pay government taxing authorities, court systems, merchants outside the U.S., or payments to security companies such as Ameritrade for stock purchases or trade taxing authorities.

Should the processing date I give be the date the payment is actually due?
No. You need to allow at least five (5) business days for payments to reach your payee. Be sure to remember that although you can schedule a payment at any time, payments are actually sent to payees only on business days. Mid West clients must allow seven (7) business days, West Coast must allow eight (8) business days.

How far in advance can I schedule a payment?
You may schedule a payment up to 90 days in advance.

How soon are funds actually taken out of my account?
Bill payments are debited from your designated account on the evening of the processing date you request.

What happens if I do not have enough money in my account to cover a bill payment?
If funds are not available on the requested processing date, your bill payment may be cancelled.

When and how are my payments delivered and how can I ensure that my payee receives my payment by the due date?
After funds are withdrawn from your account, we may remit your payment(s) by electronic funds transfer, or if the payee does not accept electronic payments, by mailing your payee a check. Because of the time it takes to remit your payment to the payee, they will not receive payment on the processing date (the date you instructed us to deduct the funds from your account). Therefore, in order to provide sufficient time for payments to be received by your payee, the processing date should be at least five (5) business days prior to the bills actual due date if you are on the East Coast, seven (7) to eight (8) business days if you are Mid West to West Coast.
You may verify receipt of the payment by your payee by contacting them directly or checking your next billing statement for verification of posting of the payment.

Why does it take up to five (5) business days for payments?
Although a number of your payees accept payments electronically, many do not. For those that do not accept electronic payments, we must send a check to that payee through the U.S. mail. Once it is received by the payee, it may also take a day or so for that payee to process the check and post it to your account. Mid West to West Coast payments may take up to eight (8) business days. Even for electronic payments, it may take two or three days for your account to be posted.

When is the last possible opportunity for me to change or cancel a bill payment?
You can change or stop a payment up until 4:00 pm EST of the processing date you originally gave us.

How do I add more merchants/payee's?
Payees may be added by using the "Manage Payees" feature, click "Add Payee." Be sure to include all required information.
