Outreach Highlights, March 2009
American Eagle Federal
Credit Union donated a total of $7,500 to two non-profit organizations, as well
as providing in-kind products and services to several other organizations in
March 2009. Through donations and employee volunteerism, our goal is to support
and enhance the communities we serve in Hartford, Middlesex, and Tolland
counties.
Eastern CT
Health Network, Business Alliance for Community Health Program
The mission
of the Business Alliance for Community Health (BACH) is to promote
philanthropy
to ECHN while also addressing current health issues facing
corporations/businesses, and the community at large. American Eagle FCU
President and
CEO, William Dokas serves on the Board of Directors for ECHN's
BACH Program.
Manchester Community College-Presidential Inauguration and
Scholarships
On Friday, May 1, 2009, Dr.
Gena Glickman will be inaugurated as the first woman president to lead
Manchester Community College. Over 1,000 guests are expected to attend. American
Eagle is proud to be a lead sponsor of this historic event and support the
College's scholarship fund.
In-Kind Donations
Children who participated in
Junior Achievement Days at Assumption School on March 25 and 26 received pads,
stickers, pens, and pencils from the Credit Union.

Volunteerism
Credit Union employees
volunteered a total of 122 hours during the month of March and a total of 133
hours year-to-date through March 2009.
Junior Achievement Day, Assumption
School, Manchester
Eleven American Eagle employees taught the Junior Achievement
financial literacy curriculum to Assumption School (K-7) students in Manchester
on March 25 and March 26. American Eagle teachers included: Kiri Thompson, Chris
Willey, Charlotte Martin, Jaclyn Larson, Mark Curti, Matthew Morrell, Christine
Tripp, Susan Waide, Ryan Duggan, Tom Nash, Joanne Valentine-Cannata.
School Reading Program, Willowbrook
School, East Hartford
AEFCU employees, Anita Castora, Rich Marinelli, Linda
Stanley, and Susan Waide read store to Pre-school children who attend the
Willowbrook School. Willowbrook School is a comprehensive preschool program for
children age's three to five.
JDRF Corporate Committee, Farmington
Vice President of Marketing and Public
Relations, Brian Kennedy serves as a member of the JDRF Corporate Committee.
This committee has the unique opportunity to directly impact the day-to-day
lives of children, teens, and adults in our community living with diabetes. One
of the primary benefits of this annual committee includes networking with other
area business leaders who share the same commitment to JDRF. Thanks to JDRF's
generous corporate partners, it is able to host events throughout the year that
unite the community and raise funds to bring us closer to find the cure for this
chronic disease affecting 24 million Americans.
United Way Community Investment
Program Committee, Hartford
Vice President of Finance Larry Michaud, serves as a member
of the United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut's Community Investment
Program (CIP) Committee. This committee
oversees the allocation of United Way funding to eligible non-profit human
service agencies. The significant work of the Committee is accomplished
through a number of volunteer "Citizen Review Panels" responsible for in-depth
evaluation of all application for funding. The Committee makes final funding
recommendations to the United Way Boards of Directors.
