Community Involvement

Community Outreach Highlights, June 2009

In June 2009, American Eagle Federal Credit Union donated a total of $5,350 to support and enhance the communities we serve in Hartford, Middlesex, and Tolland counties.

Saint Francis Foundation

American Eagle FCU was a Silver Sponsor of the 2009 Swing for Saint Francis Golf and Tennis Tournament. The event was held June 29, 2009, at the Tumble Book Country Club in Bloomfield and benefits outreach programs at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center.

Goodwin College Foundation

American Eagle FCU is pleased to be the Captain’s Circle Sponsor for Goodwin College’s Half Moon event. The Half Moon is a full-scale replica of the Dutch ship of exploration sailed by Henry Hudson for the Dutch East India Company in 1609. The ship operates a floating museum and is a platform for the educational “Voyage of Discovery” program for middle-school students who serve as crew members and learn about history, math, and science.

This program promotes education and the importance of environmental education in the Hartford area. Free public tours of Goodwin College located on one Riverside Drive in East Hartford and the Half Moon ship will take place on July 11 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Goodwin College was founded in 1999, having evolved from Data Institute Business School, a career training school that had operated in East Hartford, Connecticut since 1962. In 2004, the college became a nonprofit organization and received accreditation from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. In 2007, enrollment had increased to over 1,400 students and the college’s nursing program had grown to become the second largest in the state of Connecticut. American Eagle’s donation will be used to provide scholarships to students attending Goodwin College.
