American Eagle FCU joined the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) in their fundraising efforts to cure diabetes. On September 30, 2007, over 35 Credit Union employees walked or volunteered for 112 hours, in the Greater Hartford JDRF Walk at Rentschler Field in East Hartford.

Members supported this effort by purchasing “sneakers” at all American Eagle branches. Last year the Credit Union and members raised $5,000 for JDRF and this year we were proud to top that number raising an outstanding $5,800.

There are more than 18 million Americans affected by diabetes. JDRF has provided more funding for diabetes research than any other non-governmental agency in the world. JDRF plays a unique role in setting the global direction of these research resources, ensuring that they are used as effectively as possible to bring about a world without juvenile diabetes and its complications.
