Community Outreach Highlights, January 2009


American Eagle Federal Credit Union donated a total of $3,100 to four non-profit organizations, as well as providing in-kind products and services to several other organizations in January.

 

Brian Aselton Memorial Snow Dash

The Brian Aselton Memorial Dash was held on Sunday, January 4 in East Hartford. Proceeds from the annual event benefit the Officer Brian Aselton Memorial Scholarship Fund and the East Hartford Police Department child safety and crime prevention programs. Officer Aselton lost his life in the line of duty in 1999.

Mary's Place

Mary's Place assists grieving children and families who experience the death of parent, sibling, or significant person in their lives. Mary's Place serves children and families in Hartford, Middlesex and Tolland counties and other areas of Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Credit Union Charitable Foundation

The Credit Union League of Connecticut's Charitable Foundation works with Credit Union's across the state to raise funds for their popular "Adopt-a-Bear" program. Donations are used to purchase stuffed bears that are given to children involved in traumatic situations such as automobile accidents, domestic disputes, violence or serious illness. The bears are distributed through the Connecticut Children's Medical Center, the Connecticut State Police, and the Connecticut Foster Care Program.

Kids a t Heart Program

The Kids at Heart program was established in 1996 by the Eastern Corporate Federal Credit Union in Burlington, MA. The program provides funding for specialized pediatric care at the 397-bed Children's Hospital in Boston. As one of the largest pediatric medical centers in the United States, children and families from across New England, including and many from Central Connecticut, benefit from the services provided through this program.

St. Vincent De Paul Place

Two used televisions were donated to the St. Vincent De Paul Place in Middletown. The TVs will be given to families in crisis who are transitioning into permanent, supportive housing. Its mission is to provide food, clothing, shelter, and basic human services to poor and homeless individuals in Middlesex County.


Willowbrook School

Used office equipment and office supplies were donated to the Willowbrook School in East Hartford to be used by staff and teachers. The preschool provides comprehensive school readiness program for children ages 3 to 5 through the Connecticut State Department of Education and Social Services.

Connecticut International Baccalaureate Academy

American Eagle Federal Credit Union donated gift cards for a fundraising event that was held at the CT International Baccalaureate Academy in East Hartford. The Academy is located at East Hartford High School and challenges students to excel through high academic standards and a rigorous, pre-university curriculum.

Assumption School

Used office equipment and office supplies were donated to the Assumption School in Manchester that will be used by teachers and administrative staff.
