Community Involvement Credit Union Donates Used Furniture to Hartford Shelter (February 2008) When American Eagle Federal Credit Union relocated its Bloomfield branch to a new location on Cottage Grove Road in Bloomfield this January, it wanted to find a home for much of the old furniture from the branch. The furniture was recently donated to the Immaculate Conception Shelter in Hartford, where it was put to good use. A full size refrigerator, coat rack, chairs, tables, and filing cabinets were among the items donated.  For 25 years Immaculate Conception Shelter & Housing Corporation has been a life saving resource to thousands of homeless individuals. Immaculate has always focused on men who are most vulnerable to life on the streets of Hartford, including people with HIV/AIDS and those with severe substance use problems and mental health issues. Hundreds of Hartford's most vulnerable population have established trusting relationships with ICHSC staff over their years on the street and at the shelter. The shelter is committed to continuing to provide intensive, supportive outreach and shelter services while developing housing options that are the path to the ending of homelessness for the hundreds of men who for far too long have had not place to call home and no stable foundation to rebuild towards community reintegration. « Back to Community Involvement |
