Financial Donation
Eastern CT Health Network (ECHN) Milestone Capital Campaign ECHN
American Eagle
Federal Credit Union made its fourth donation of a five year pledge to the
Eastern Connecticut Health Network. Over the five-year period American Eagle
will have donated a total of $25,000 to the ECHN "Milestones" Campaign. The
funds have been used to renovate the Emergency Department at Rockville General
Hospital, along with other improvements, giving the medical staff the
opportunity to deliver quality care in a healing environment. American Eagle made a donation to support the Middlesex YMCA. The Y's Summer Enrichment Program offers children entering grades 1-6 a chance to have hands-on learning and fun. visit exciting places, learn about different cultures, and develop new friendships. Children are able to attend the program for one or multiple weeks. The donation from AEFCU will be used to support the children of low income families in Middlesex County to attend this summer enrichment and after school programs.
American Eagle made a monetary donation to the East Hartford YMCA locate on Main Street. The YMCA offers safe and adult supervised after school and Saturday activities for East Hartford children ages 6-17. The multipurpose room is used for group sports activities such as dodge ball and basketball. The money donated by AEFCU will go toward funding events and equipment in the YMCA's pre-teen and teen centers. At the pre-teen and teen centers, students can use computers, watch television, and play video and board games. Game tables are also available in the teen center.

Eagle is proud to support Literacy Volunteers of America of Northern
Connecticut, Inc., a non-profit educational organization whose primary goal is
to fight illiteracy in Northern Connecticut. The organization provides services
through two programs: Basic Reading and English as a Second Language (ESL).
Basic Reading focuses on functionally illiterate English speaking adults.
English as a Second language focuses on adults whose primary language is no
American English. On April 30, 2009 Literacy Volunteers of American of Northern
Connecticut will be hosting its 5rh Annual Scrabble Challenge a the
Crowne Plaza Hotel in Enfield. This event raises money to help eliminate
illiteracy throughout the community. The organization refers to the event as "a
combination of teamwork, good food, friendly competition and at the same time,
supports such a good cause." American Eagle is pleased to support this important
educational initiative as a friend of LVA sponsorship. American Eagle employees
will participate in this scrabble challenge. On Thursday, February 26th, the American Eagle Manchester Branch delivered five large bags of groceries to the Manchester Food Pantry. This food was donated by employees and members visiting the branch during January and February. MACC (Manchester Area Conference of Churches, Inc.) was established on January 19, 1973 by fourteen area churches. MACC has grown to be the Town of Manchester's primary social services agency. MACC serves residents of the towns of Manchester and Bolton and is the largest private, nonprofit social services agency in the state located East of the Connecticut River. Currently, twenty area churches govern MACC policy. MACC employs a dedicated staff of professionals and relies on thousands of volunteers every ear to fulfill its mission. Every day, 365 days a year, MACC provides needed social services to the community. Its mission is to provide food, clothing, shelter and advocacy for the unmet basic needs of people in the community it serves.

United Way Community Investment Program Committee, Hartford One American Eagle employee serves on the United Way's United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut's Community Investment Program (CIP) Committee. This committee meets monthly and oversees the annual allocation of United Way funding to eligible non-profit human service agencies. The significant work of the Committee is accomplished through a number of volunteer "Citizen Review Panels" responsible for in-depth evaluation of all application for funding. The Committee makes final funding recommendations to the United Way Boards of Directors.
