Community Involvement![]() New Bloomfield Office Donates $2,000 to Community Organizations
(BLOOMFIELD, CT) On January 21, American Eagle Federal Credit Union opened its new 2,300 square foot retail office at 699 Cottage Grove Road in Bloomfield. During its ribbon-cutting ceremony on January 23, William J. Dokas, American Eagle’s President and CEO, presented $1,000 each to Operation Fuel, Inc. and the Bloomfield Education Foundation.
“As part of the Credit Union’s Bloomfield Grand Opening Celebration, we are donating a total of $2,000 to two non-profit organizations in Bloomfield,” Dokas told the crowd of about 50 people who attended.
According to Arlene Harris, President of the Bloomfield Education Foundation Board of Directors, the money will be used to assist the Bloomfield public school system with educational initiatives that are not available through conventional school funding. The Bloomfield Education Foundation has assisted the Bloomfield school system with support for Ingenuity Grants, capital projects, and teacher awards for almost nine years.
“Operation Fuel will use the funds to help provide energy assistance to struggling families living in Bloomfield and Connecticut cities and towns,” said Bill Zagorski, Director of Development for Operation Fuel, Inc. “Operation Fuel has provided cash grants to utility companies and fuel oil vendors to assist families in need for over 30 years,” he added.
According to Dokas, American Eagle is committed to improving the quality of life for the residents of the communities in which we live, work, and operate. Throughout the year, the Credit Union dedicates both monetary and personnel resources and focuses on education, basic human needs, and community development in the communities it serves.
Dokas also welcomed Bloomfield dignitaries, including Bloomfield Mayor Sydney Schulman; Deputy Mayor Donald Harris;Deborah Davis, Director of the Bloomfield Economic Development Commission; Vera Smith-Winfree, Executive Director of the Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce; and Charles Frazier, Jr., President of the Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce.
“American Eagle Federal Credit Union is committed to providing quality products and exceptional member service,” Dokas said. “The Credit Union teamed up with Tecton Architects of Hartford, Connecticut, and the Fortunato Construction Group of Kensington, Connecticut, to complete this project.
The Credit Union’s new Bloomfield office also has a community room with seating for up to 25 people for meetings and presentations. Not-for-profit Bloomfield organizations may use the room, at no cost, during regular Credit Union business hours.
