TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST

BASIC FUNCTION

Responsible for designing, coordinating, monitoring and presenting training and development programs for the Credit Union.
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Designs and develops training programs to promote Credit Union growth, employee development and quality service.  Training programs include but are not limited to: sales and service skills training, management development training, computer training, robbery and evacuation training, compliance training and functional job area training, including: Tellers, Member Financial Representatives, Checking, Contact Center, Deposit Services, and Electronic Services.

 

Designs, develops, prepares, and conducts new hire orientations.

 

Conducts training classes to support employee professional development, and enhance employee performance and productivity.

 

Consults with supervisors to identify needs and concerns related to employee training and development.

 

Assists with the formulation of training policies, programs and schedules based on knowledge of identified training needs, company production processes, business systems or changes in products, procedures or services.

 

Selects appropriate instructional procedures or methods such as individual training, group instruction, self study, lectures, demonstrations, simulation exercises, role plays and computer based training.

 

Assists with the organization and development of training manuals, reference library, testing and evaluation procedures, multimedia visual aids and other educational material.

 

Compiles data and analyzes past and current year's training requirements and programs to ensure effectiveness.

 

Administers and tracks various self study programs, including but not limited to the STAR and MERIT programs.

 

Develops, corrects, and communicates results of Product Knowledge testing.  Analyzes trends in product knowledge results and recommends changes to the program based on analysis.

 

Maintains records and prepares statistical reports to evaluate performance and monitor progress of trainees.

 

Coordinates established training courses from outside technical and professional schools.

 

Keeps informed of new developments, methods and techniques in the training field.

 

Assists in the preparation of detailed schedules and budgets as relates to training. Monitors and controls expenditures.  Recommends cost effective revisions to training programs and procedures as warranted.

 

Attends all committee and special meetings as required. Develops and makes presentations to staff, management as required.

 

Demonstrates accomplishment at setting priorities and multi-tasking.

 

Continually seeks better ways of doing business, including using technology. Questions assumptions and traditions while understanding their reason for existing.

 

Possesses proficiency in using software applications, such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Access and Excel spreadsheets.

 

Responsible for other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Business or Education plus three to five years experience in related work, or equivalent combination of training and experience obtained in the financial services industry.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common credit union industry events, journals, financial trends, and consumer oriented issues. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from members, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to staff and top management.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

HOURS

40 hours/week with the flexibility for overtime as necessary

 

SALARY

$20.92/hr min - $34.78/hr max

 

 

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
